The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra

The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar in the Tibetan Himalayas.

Mount Kailash is considered a sacred mountain by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and followers of the ancient religion of Bon, and is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. Lake Manasarovar, located nearby, is considered a sacred lake and is believed to have healing powers. The Yatra is considered extremely challenging and physically demanding, both because of the high altitude and the long and difficult journey to reach the site. It is considered one of the most sacred and difficult pilgrimage routes in the world.

The Yatra typically involves a long and arduous journey by foot or horseback. The Kailash Parikrama is the circumambulation or 'parikrama' of Mount Kailash, a sacred mountain in the Tibetan Himalayas. It is considered one of the most sacred and challenging pilgrimage routes in the world. The parikrama is typically done on foot, and takes about 3 days to complete. It covers a distance of 52 km (32 miles) and it is said that one full parikrama around Mount Kailash is equal to the merit of doing one hundred million prostrations.

It is usually done clockwise and requires trekking on high altitude, rocky and uneven terrain, crossing several passes and river.

However, it is important to note that the length of time it takes to complete the parikrama can vary depending on a person's physical fitness, acclimatization and other factors. It's also essential to note that it is a physically demanding and challenging journey, and it is important for one to be well-prepared physically and mentally before embarking on it. It is also important to have all necessary permits and arrangements done through a tour operator before the start of the journey.

It covers places like Kathmandu and Lhasa as well. It is typically done in a group led by a tour operator with all necessary permits and arrangements.

The yatra is not only considered a spiritual journey but also a chance to experience the stunning landscapes and unique culture of the region.
